Sustainable Development Consulting
VLV Green Initiative (VGI) provides technical assistance and support for a wide variety of sustainable development related topics. Our areas of expertise include green job development, sustainability modeling, green policy development and analysis, sustainable business operations and marketing, employee training, and project and program development and management. Additionally, we offer Certified Home Energy Rating and EarthCraft single and multifamily EarthCraft Technical Advisory.
VLV Green Initiative provides services to non-profit and community-based organizations as well as government and private sector clients.
We work to improve the operation of Existing Buildings by analyzing utility consumption, developing plans for reducing usage, and managing installation of conservation measures. Our approaches make buildings greener through water conservation, energy use reduction, waste management, equipment efficiency, sustainable purchasing, and capital needs planning. We also provide services to help existing buildings become LEED® certified.
Our Sustainable Development Consulting practice provides a broad range of planning, training and business development services. These include helping governments develop sustainability strategies and implement green standards, organizations analyze their practices and make them more sustainable and carbon neutral, and developing new green businesses.
Green Development Services
VLV realizes the importance of ensuring that our current stock of buildings is performing well and using resources efficiently. The scope of our Existing Building services includes:
- Conducting whole building audits to asses current energy use and develop plans for reduction;
- Conducting water audits and managing installation of conservation measures;
- Identifying appropriate efficiency incentives and rebates from utility companies and coordinating their attainment;
- Identifying indoor air quality and health issues and providing strategies for improvement;
- Developing strategies for LEED certification and managing the Existing Building certification process;
- Advising on the selection of a Commissioning Agent and coordinating the retro-commissioning process;
- Advising on the selection of contractors and managing those contractors during the installation of energy conservation measures.
